Some Suggested Itineraries

By Canoe - Unguided

We use Old Town - Mad River or Clipper canoes for these rentals. They have a capacity from 750 - 1000 lbs and are more than adequate for two persons plus any camping gear that you may wish to bring along. Two PFD's and three paddles are included in the rental.

If you wish to extend your stay and don't have the gear with you, don't worry. We rent stoves, cook sets, waterproof bags and whatever you need to Spend a few days camping out.

No C1 - Yukon River - Whitehorse to Takhini - 15 miles - $60. per person.
A short 2-1/2 hour to 4 hour excursion on the legendary Yukon River from downtown Whitehorse to its confluence with the Takhini River about 15 miles downstream. Pack a lunch and enjoy the ride. Return transport back to Whitehorse is included. Departs throughout the day until 3:00pm.

No C2 - Yukon River - Miles Canyon - Schwatka Lake - 5 miles - $75. per person.
We transport you to and from this one. The starting point is approximately one mile upstream of the famous Miles Canyon of the Yukon River. The Whitehorse Rapids that once made the run extremely dangerous for any kind of watercraft were tamed with the building of the power dam in Schwatka Lake, which is your destination. The stark rock walls and the narrow fast water of the canyon make for an exciting albeit short run into Schwatka Lake. A pick up at the north end of the lake is included in your trip. The trip may be extended to last all day. Pack a lunch and stay a while.

No C3 - Yukon River - Whitehorse to Lake Laberge - 30 miles - $95. per person.
Spend the day canoeing the 30 miles from downtown Whitehorse to world famous Lake Laberge. That's the place that they cremated Sam McGee in Robert Service's renowned poem "The Cremation of Sam McGee". To prevent the possibilities of becoming weather bound you stop just short of the entry into the lake. Trip includes pick up. Morning departures only. Duration 4 to 6 hours.

No C4 - Yukon River - Marsh Lake to Schwatka Lake - 30 miles - $95. per person.
You start this trip with a van ride on the Alaska Highway south to Marsh Lake where the Yukon River is born. A six to eight hour paddle brings you into Schwatka Lake on the outskirts of Whitehorse. This includes paddling through historic Miles Canyon once the site of the infamous Whitehorse Rapids. A transfer from Schwatka Lake to downtown Whitehorse is included in the trip. Morning departures only.

No. C5 - Chadburn Lakes - canoe - fishing - 1 day - $90.00 per person.
This is an unguided trip. We transport you and your canoe to Chadburn Lake - a short distance from downtown Whitehorse. This is a stocked lake and you can spend the day fishing for Lake trout or simply enjoying the scenery and the paddling around the lake. A great place to relax. At a pre-set time, our van will pick you up and transport you back to downtown Whitehorse. Pack a lunch and stay awhile!

No. C6 - Snafu Lake Chain - canoe or kayak - 3 days / 2 nights $245. per person.
A great way to spend a few days in the Yukon wilderness. Camp out at the Government campground at Snafu Lake. Spend the days paddling and fishing the lake for Lake trout, Northern pike and Arctic grayling. Go ahead, cook the catch! Anyone that hasn't tasted fresh-caught - pan-fried grayling is missing something. This trip can be extended to as many days as you like.

No C7 - Hidden Lake - canoe or kayak - 1 day - fishing. $90.00 per person.
Another favorite. One of the few areas that is stocked with Rainbow trout. The lake is situated just outside of Whitehorse. There is no road into the lake and a short 5 min carry of your canoe and gear is required. The effort is worth it as the rewards can be a fresh Rainbow up to 2-1/2 - 3 lbs. and of course a relaxing full day of an intimate wilderness experience. Try it, you'll love it. Morning departures only.
